Very strange cable

Very strange cable
I bought this Barbie-coloured oddity at the Salvation Army for $1.59. (Wouldn’t you?) It is a 25-pin male-to-female with a network plug off the female end, all eight wires engaged. Haven’t figured out what it does yet – suggestions welcome.

This picture is getting quite a lot of views all of a sudden – care to tell me where you found it? (And, any more ideas about the use of this cable?) Thanks!

I’d say it’s quite an improvement!

(The two cables in the very front are for recording and so they need to hang down like that for easy access.)
